Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Are The Findings In The Following CECT Report Normal?
CECT findings reveal clustered distal jejunal and ileal small bowel loops in the centre of the abdomen, forming multiple locules surrounded by a thin enhacing membrane with interbowel and surrounding free fluid suggestive of abdomen cocoons. Few of the loops appear dilated with no obvious single zone of transition. Please reply what is it?? The disease...?
* The findings of CECT of the abdomen and pelvis indicates various possibilities from surgical point of view as
- acute small intestine obstruction secondary to infection ( bacterial in most cases - gram negative bugs or enterococci )
- fluid electrolyte imbalance of potassium or sodium
- tumors compressing parts of intestine or colon
- intra luminal pathology as strictures, narrowing or else
However, if you can provide all scanned plates of CECT, history of the patient in details, better guidelines can be understood for this topic.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
