Are The Chills Normal During Pregnancy?

Hi, I am 17 weeks pregnant and am experiencing chills, goosebumps and generally feeling cold for the past 4 hours. I also got a mild headache. I though it may be low blood pressure so I had lots of water and really salty food, to no avail. I have hipothyroidism but my last tests came back ok. Is this normal?

Hi,
I understand your concern.
Chills are not normal in pregnancy.
- They are either due to exhaustion/fatigue due to less eating/vomiting,/ generalized weakness- causing low blood pressure, sweating, low body temperature & shivering.
- Chills with head ache is early sign of fever due to some infection.Detection of site of infection & treatment accordingly is needful.
- Hypothyroidism is also characterized by chills.Though your last test was normal, need for thyroid hormone increases as the baby grows & the dose of medicines is to be changed according to repeated blood testing & endocrinologist's advise.
Thanks.
Thanks.
