Are The Anti-hbs Values Normal?
Hi i am a nurse, who previously got pricked by and insulin syringe after giving the patients' due novorapid. I went to our infection control unit and reported them the incident. initially they told me to wait for a month and have my profiles done then, but on that same day the patients' hepa profile anti-hbs, anti hbsag, anti hcv came out, which all resulted to non-reactive. they have me then done the anti hbs titer, result was 492.60iu/l reactive, and the reference range was over 10. i know this means i have antibodies againts hep b which maybe from previous vaccination and or infection. is the value of my anti hbs okay? do i still need to have anti hbsag or hbsag done? thank you

This measurement means you have antibodies against hepatitis B, which is what the vaccination is meant to do. This protects you against hepatitis B. Also, since the patient was negative on all the major types of hepatitis, you could not be infected by his insulin syringe. You need no further testing for hepatitis. Hope this helps.
