Are symptoms of finger stiffness after open trigger finger release indicative of nerve damage?

I had open trigger finger release surgery seven days ago. The doctor said that the tendons were frayed and very tight in the procedure. My finger is is very stiff and does not straighten without pain. I m hoping to regain full use without additional complications? Do the symptoms point towards nerve damage? What can I do for self help to assist in the healing process? Thank you

Hi,

Welcome to Healthcare Magic. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You need vigorous physiotherapy for fingers to reduce this pain. This kind of pain is common after trigger finger surgery. Painkiller, anti inflammatory drugs and physiotherapy are the treatment options for this. Usual recovery time is 1 month. So no need to worry for nerve damage during surgery. You can also apply ice packs on affected area.

I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you have any further questions.

Take care.
