Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that he has symptoms of viral infection and flu is a common cause that can lead to symptoms of sore throat, fever, cold and chest congestion/pain..
As viral infection resolves once the virus completes its cycle therefore it can take about a week for the symptoms to improve..
You can give him tylenol for fever along with Ibuprofen for aches and pains..
You can make him do warm saline gargles, steam inhalations and use a humidifier in room to ease breathing and soothe the throat..
Suck throat lozenges and chew a Vitamin C pellet daily.
Avoid spicy and chilled foods.
Take a soft and bland diet and drink plenty of water..
Do cool sponges on forehead and extremities..
Five him ample of rest..
In case if symptoms does not improve in a week or if there is worsening of symptoms, consult a General Physician and get evaluated and he can also advised blood test to confirm the cause and treat accordingly..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
