Are results of echocardiogram definitive?

Hi--- I had low voltage on an EKG, and have since had a follow up echocardiogram (results not in yet). I am a 53 year old female, overweight at 192 lbs, 5 6 , but have not had high cholesterol or blood pressure. I have lately been experiencing chest pain and tightness, but am also being treated for anxiety. As heart disease runs in my family I am concerned it could be serious. Will the results from the echo be definitive that nothing is wrong or should I pursue more testing? Thank you!

Hi...i understood your query...
Echocardiogram is advanced tests to evaluate your cardiac function...It is quite informative...
Looking to your you are obese and also family history of cardiac should be watchfull...
by c/o chest pain and should be watchfull....though anxiety is there...but you should rule out underlying disease if any....
There are different special type of stress echo.../ M-mode/2-D...
If your result require special mode which your physician not using should go for special mode....keep in close touch with your cardiologist...
Thanks...for contacting Health care magic...

Before I left to go on vacation, because of shortness of breath, I went to my PCP, who did an EKG. I am 71. He didn t find anything wrong but said that maybe my heart was enlarged from high blood pressure--it has never gone very high, but I do take Enalapril 5 mg once a day. He wanted me to have an echocardiogram to see if I needed to see a cardiologist, which I did before I left home on June 17. Today I finally talked to my doctor s nurse, as he was out of the office. He told her to tell me that my heart was squeezing well but there was some heart muscle stiffness. He wants me to see a cardiologist when I get home, but said there it was nothing urgent. Of course here I am 1,000 miles from home, could only talk to the nurse, as my doctor is out, so could someone tell me anything about these results. I am a basket case now after hearing this! Thank you very much. Linda Douthit
