Are Red Spots On Tongue Indicative Of Strep Throat?

I ve notice that my daughter keep on touching her tongue and I do see some red dots on her tongue. Yesterday I took her to see the Dr and Dr said she might be having strep throat. The Dr then prescribed antibiotic, but I am hesitant to have my daughter taking it because the strep throat test does not come back until a few days later. I don t want to have her take antibiotic if she doesn t need it. Any advice is greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

Hi,
Welcome to healthcare magic.
I had gone through your question.
I can understand your concern.
Those could be normal taste buds of tongue. Nothing to worry.
I recommend the following.
1) Analgesic like tablet paracetamol for pain relief.
2) Salt water gargling. Add a pinch of salt to a glass of warm water.
3) if the strep test comes positive antibiotics can be started.

She will be fine.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any questions, I am happy to help.
Wish her a good health and speedy recovery.
Regards,
