Are Recurring Bouts Of IBS Symptoms Indicative Of Colon Cancer?

Hello. Are there any markers or differentiations between the typical symptoms of IBS and those associated with colon cancer? As a lifelong IBS sufferer, sometimes when these bouts occur it is difficult to determine whether this is an IBS pattern or something more serious.

Hi thanks for asking question.

Your fear is obvoious regarding repeated bouts of GI symptoms.

In colon cancer there is constant abdominal pain with prolonged diarrhea or blood in stool usually present. In colon cancer also complain of anorexia , weight loss etc present.

While in irritable bowel syndrome there are abdominal discomfort with alternate diarrhea and constipation.

If still symptoms suspicion of colon cancer present then colonoscopy with subsequent biopsy from suspicion area can be done.

I hope your concern is solved.

Take care.
