Are Pus Cells In Urine A Symptom Of A UTI?

My father is 58 years old and he got higher levels of pus cells, fever and chills , weight loss last june. so he took the treatment for uti under the doses of meropenem 1g ., faropenem 200mg and other antibiotics for 2months.later for the kidney stones he got the pcnl for left kidney and extracorporeal shock wave therapy for right kidney with a stent involved. And that stent has been removed a month before. And in 2012 he undergone pcnl for right kidney and surgery for prostate enlargement issues. And now 2 days back he Again got plenty level of pus cells, 10-15 /hpf of rbc and esr of 74 ,and he is feeling fatigue. He has also got very higher levels of ldl and vldl in lipid profile. Does that mean uti reoccurence or any other related to the past medical history?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

* As per my clinical experience, the significant amount of pus cells with RBC mandate underlying infection in the urinary system which may be related to calculus or else.

* In our clinic, I recommend a urine culture, total blood counts, serum creatinine value with ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis for further management guidelines.

* So far as past medical history is concerned, it has to be co related with current clinical condition and all reports for further comments.

Hope I have answered your query.
