Are Pain In The Tongue, Lip Numbness And A Metallic Taste Symptoms Of Eagle Syndrome?

Pain that is intermittent on the side of my tongue (left side) feels like an electric shock that comes in waves...lasts 30 to 60 seconds...sometimes so severe it makes my left lip go numb and seems to travel down my chin towards my neck...I notice a metallic taste in my mouth....I cannot use my sonicare toothbrush because that will set it off...I have been to the dentist...he took X-rays and believes I’m grinding my teeth at night( yes I wear a mouth guard at night)...he gave me anti-inflammatory drugs (doing them for 3 days) no change....Eagle syndrome?

Hello,

I don't think this is eagles syndrome.

You should first have mentioned about this how this pain began? did it start post any dental procedure or it just began on its own?

I feel you should look out for trigeminal neuralgia. Because the symptoms you saying indicates more about this. In trigeminal neuralgia, the pain is so severe and so much one cannot bear it and none of the anti-inflammatory drugs will work either.

I wish you don't have trigeminal neuralgia but a hands-on examination is of utmost importance.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
