Are Pain And Bleeding Normal While On Implanon Contraceptives?

i have had the implanon stick contraceptive for over a year now without any problems at all and menstruation has stopped completely. about 6 days ago i started experiencing period like pains that are painful. but about 4 days ago i started bleeding as well with excruciating pains. the pains come first then when going to the bathroom the blood is present. it is not a constant flow needing a pad, but every time i go to the loo and wipe there is blood present. please advise as to what this could be please

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, i do care for your concern.
The life span of implanon device is about three years.
however the drug can be used up early due to various reasons such as obesity, other drug usage that leads to greater metabolism.
Your present spotting indicates there is fluctuation in hormonal levels.
I would advise
To consult your gyanec, to confirm the presence of device and its working condition, in the mean time temporary contraceptive methods can be used.
need not panic as this present situation can be reverted back to normal.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
