Are Nasal Congestion And Sinus Pain Suggestive Of Having Sinus Infection?

I think I have a sinus infection...classic symptoms...aches where my sinuses are located, post nasal drip, a bit of congestion. But I also sense a funny smell when I breath thru my nose. It's worst when the air conditioning is going. At first I thought it was a smell from the AC but it happens when I run the AC in my car or anywhere else. I don't get that smell in my nose when I'm outside in warmer air. I live in Arizona.thoughts?

I have gone through your query and understand your concerns..

As per your complain and the symptoms that you are experiencing the symptoms seems consistent with Sinus infection known as Sinusitis and the bad smell in nose which is more in air conditioner is due to more increased congestion when you are in cool air..

You should consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and he can also advise you to get a PNS VIEW x ray done or an MRI SCAN of the sinuses and confirm the cause..

For sinusitis he can advise you to take antibiotics, anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen, steam inhalations, saline irrigations and steroid nasal sprays..
Avoid chilled foods and air conditioned atmosphere..
Do warm compresses around nostrils..
