Are Mild Fever, Red Rashes And Sore Throat Symptoms Of Measles?
I think my son may have the measles ,he has the scratchy throat, mucusy nose red rash all over small tiny dots everywhere noticed it yesterday but he just started not feeling well to day - slight fever just under100 - what should I do, should I worry & how long will it last I read it s contagious
Welcome to HCM I appreciate your health concern for your son You are right sore throat do precede measles Did you notice from where the rashes started ist? Do they appear behind the ear or face ist? Ist of all yes they are contagious.you should get your son bed rest and avoid going to the school for 3 to 5 days.Measles is a viral infection and it will take 3-5 days to settle symptoms. Give him ibuprofen or paracetamol for fever.Get him supplementation of Vitamin A.give him lots of fluids. If he feels nauseous or vomits, add an antiemetic like dimenhydrinate.Alo add antihistamine like cetrizine so that he wont itch much. He will get well soon.Just take these necessary steps. And dont worry Regards Dr faeza
