Are Light Tan Spots My Birth Mark Or Allergy ?

I am a female and I m 19 years old. I have light tan spots and mass on my side, going down my rib-cage. I ve never had a problem with it irritating or anything, I would just like to know what it is. I have always just thought it was a birth mark but I ve never seen one this big and spotty. What could this be?
