Are Iritis And TIA Due To Asbestos Exposure?

I have HLA-B27. I learned this in 2000 when I developed iristis. I was diagnosed with RA in 2016 and have suffered with iritis, again, in 2017. Also I had a TIA in 2017. I was wondering if having been exposed to asbesto for a few years in the 1990s could possibly be part of the reason these problems have happened. thank you

Hello,

Asbestos does not cause rheumatoid arthritis, iritis, or transient ischemic attack (TIA). Asbestos is known to cause restrictive lung disorder (asbestosis) and increased risk of lung cancer, especially in smokers.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal
