Are High Blood Pressure Levels Dangerous Due To Previous Heart Attack?

I am 66yrs old male. Weight 83kg, height 5feet 5 inches. I had a heart attack 7 yrs back and am on medication since then. But however my blood pressure will be most of the times very high and fluctuating..say around 150/90 to190/95 which happens without me getting to know! I am worried if this can prove dangerous to my life. Please give suggestions as to what to do.

Welcome to healthcaremagic,
Normal blood pressure for adults is less than 140 over 90. Your blood pressure is very high. As you have already suffered a heart attack earlier and are having uncontrolled blood pressure now, this is very dangerous as you might again get an heart attack if your blood pressure is not controlled. Visit your physician as you blood pressure tablets dosage needs to be increased or changed.
In order to control blood pressure follow the given below advice:
1. Regular exercise such as brisk walking for at least 30 minutes per day
2. Consume a diet rich in fruits, vegetables and low fat dairy products.
3. Reduce salt intake to less than 5 grams per day (1 teaspoon is approximately 5 grams)
4. Take your medications regularly and get your blood pressure checked at least once a month.
Hope that answers you question.

if the dose or type of medication is insufficient then they have to be changed..its not normal to have a bp of 190/95.
