Are Heartburn And Numbness In Forearm Related?

heartburn most of the day & localized skin numbing in left forearm. I didn't realize my arm was numb until I got to work so it could have been there all morning or something I did in the night. I'm 35, F, overweight. I'm not sure the symptoms are related but they sure are annoying! Any advice?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have read your question closely, I understand your concern and will be helping you with your health related problem. Heart burn is usually due to acidity of stomach and can easily be controlled with life style modifications. Plus numbness of arm if just happened for once is not an alarm symptom there is nothing to really worry about that.

Life style changes should be:

1) Avoid coffee, caffeine, junk food, binge eating, smoking , alcohol (what ever is relevant).
2) Eat small multiple meals a day.
3) Reduce weight if you need to.
4) Stay physically active do regular walk.
5) Take simple food with balance of meat and vegetables.
6) You can take Syrup Gaviscon for symptoms relief.

I hope this answered your question. If you have more queries I am happy to answer you.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammad Ahmad
