Are Headache, Dizziness And Weight Gain Side Effects Of Remeron?

I am bipolar and my doctor recently added remeron to Zoloft and depakote. He prescribed 15 mg per day and I had adverse effects of headaches, dizziness and insatiable appetite. I cut the dose to 7.5 daily on my own with some improvement. However the weight gain is now more pronounced and is affecting my breathing (copd). He is out of town and I want to discontinue it. Can you tell me if this would be ok?

Hello there. I have read through your question and would like to tell you that it is not advisable to discontinue Remeron on your own. Remeron and zoloft are antidepressants which may cause increased appetite and weight gain as a side effect. But stopping or decreasing the dose may cause relapse of your condition. Its advisable to modify your diet and following a good exercise regime to control your weight. I hope that answers your question. If you have any further questions please feel free to write. wishing you good health.
