Are Headache And Pain Behind The Ear Symptoms Of Mastoiditis?

my husband has had severe headache, pain in the back of his neck and pain behind his right ear. He has been to the ER twice. Second time, the Dr. ran a scan of his head and found nothing abnormal. He has sharp pain behind his ear and pain radiating into his head. Could this be mastoiditis?

Hello

I doubt if it is Mastoiditis. Because you have not mentioned any discharge from ear. And in Mastoiditis the discharge from ear is usually seen
If your husband was my patient I would have diagnosed him with Occipital Neuralgia.
Let me tell you what it is. It is a type of headache caused by an injury or pinched nerves in your neck. Pinched nerves can happen when you keep your neck bent for a long time. It can also be due to arthritis in the neck and shoulders.

However I would suggest you to go for MRI. This will help.

Some conventional therapies I can suggest you
1. Hot Pack for neck
2. Massage with a lukewarm oil
3. Physiotherapy and exercise
4. Relaxation and meditation
5. Breathing exercise

Thanks
