Are Flu Medicines Putting My Child To Sleep?
Hello Dr. This is R n,i from India. My daughter is 22 months old & she is suffering from high fever ,little cough n cold since yesterday. I showed her to Pediatrition n he gave her Calpol N Mrftal-p for fever & Maxtra Syrup for caugh. Bt still she is having 103 F fever. so today evening i gave her Meftal-p which i had nt given till that time as Calpol ws given. After that she sweated a lot n fever came down. Bt now all of a sudden she slept. which is very unusual. as just 3 hours before only she got up after 4 hours of sound sleep. so i want to ask u Dr whether this isnormal or something is wrong? or this is because of the Meftal-p?

Hallo . Thank you for asking this question . She is sleepy because of Maxtra - decongastive medicine . When there was fever , she was uncomfortable . As fever goes down she feels better and slept . Though it is normal but still keep a strict watch on her other behavior too . Even this excess sleepiness is persistent , contact local doctor . Hope I have answered your query .
