Are ct scans and mri's harmful if I try to conceive ?
Are ct scans and mri's harmful if i try to conceive on tye same cycle? I m a 25 year old white female and I weigh 152 pounds. My husband and I have a beautiful 13 mth old baby boy and we have been trying to conceive again, but there is one little problem. I just got home from the ER in which I had to get ct scan. I found out that I have a herniated disk in on my lower back. I also have to follow up with an MRI. I m also ovulating this week and I m just wanting to know if it is a good idea to continue trying to conceive during this cycle?
yes CT scan is harmful be cause here they use ionizing radiation and computers to create images of internal organs. There are potentially many side effects, here are the most common side effects in your case:Organ failure and Gene mutations .Mri is safe in your case.If planning for conception avoid Xrays, and Ct scans .MRI uses magnetic field hence it is safer
Hi,thanks for posting your query.Normally the pregnant ladies are not allowed even inside the radiology dept.It is better to wait till this gets over and then try to conceive. You might have to take some medicines for this and that can also affect the pregnancy.Again your baby is just 13 months old,we normally advise spacing of at least 2-3 years between babies, that is good for mother and baby as well.Bye and take care.

Hello, My father is diagnosed on the basis of an MRI with the following: 1. Grade 1 retrolisthesis at L2-3 level. 2. Vertebral endplate irregularity with signal alterations at L2-3 - mostly represents degenerative spondylitis 3. Broad based herniations at L3-4 and L4-5 with mild impression on thecal sac and bilateral adjacent nerve roots. We were told that this could lead to some severe problems with bowel and bladder movement. Is it possible to find out when and how this could occur? What will be the symtoms for bladder and bowel problems? Please advice. Regards, Sundar
I have a problem that is not resolving. I have right eye ptososis, strabismus, the eye no longer moves to the left and lately constant weeping/tearing from the eye. In the cavernous sinus, I have greater ectasia on the right vs left carotid on MRI and a vascular blush on a cerebral angiogram, suggestive of inflammation, tumor or fistula. Currently, there is no identified aneurysm, no inflammation or infection in CSF or blood, no identified fistula, and no tumor on MRI. High dose steroids are not resolving the problem. What other things could be assessed/examined?
My son Sameer is suffering from foll.symptoms-1.Pulling/twitching sensation on right jaw.2.Headache.3.Vertigo on closing eyes.4.Acidity.We consulted neurologist. After MRI he was referred to ENT surgeon for choked sinuses.ENT surgeon called for CT scan which revealed that there is a small cyst each in maxillary and sphenoid sinuses. We have come to know that complications may arise on surgical treatment due to close proximity of imp.structures to the sphenoid. Is there alternative course of treatment?
