Are Bipolar Medications The Same For Everyone?

I have recently been diagnosed with bi polar depression, and currently see a phychiatrist for medication. I have also been told that my brothers and my birthmother are also severely bi polar, and take medications for it Could I benefit from the same exact meds that they take ? I am not happy with current meds..

Thanks you for asking this question. I have undergone through your question. I understand your concern. To start treatment, proper diagnosis by psychiatrist is must. Do not take any medicine for yourself and for your relative without any prescription by psychiatrist. All medicines are not same for all patients. Their dose depends upon age and other comorbidity. take your recommended treatment regularly, and take your relatives to a psychiatrist for diagnosis and check up if they really need it.
I hope this information will help you
I wish you a good health
