Are Antibiotics Advisable For Mild Temperature And Running Nose?

Hi, I am wondering if I should go to the Dr. for antibiotics. I suspect sinus infection. Both my husband and daughter were sick for over a week with same symptoms and are on amoxicillin +
My symptoms: slight fever 99.6 F, runny nose - clear, burning sinuses, achy neck, bit of chills. Sleeping or laying down as much as possible. Symptoms began over a week ago, but I took Cold Calm and symptoms went away. The runny nose returned with painful sinuses etc yesterday morning.
thank you, Margaret

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of mild temperature and running nose which seems to be due to viral infection or flu. Need not to worry. You should avoid intake of spicy, hot and sharp food substances. I would suggest you to take paracetamol every 6 hrly to lower down fever. Do tepid sponging as well. You should take proper course of antibiotic Ciprofloxacin along with antiallergic medication Sinarest. You should do warm saline gargles on daily basis. Visit general physician once and get it examined and start treatment after proper examination. You should go for complete blood test examination. You should drink plenty of fluids. Doctor may prescribe antiviral like acyclovir or antibacterial along with decongestant and expectorant .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
