Are Abdominal Cramps Normal While On Implant?

Hi there, I ve been on the implant since November 2013. I had it when I lived back in England. My implant is due to expire in 8 months in November 2016. I have no had a period since November 2013. I have started to spot the last 4 days and get cramping this week and it s the first time since insertion. The cramping is very abnormal too. My husband and I are worried that my implant has run out early. What does this mean for us? We now live in Canada and the implant is not approved here.

Hi,

Abdominal cramps and discomfort can happen with contraceptive implant especially on the early days of usage. You can take analgesics like Mefenemic acid for symptomatic relief. If symptoms persist you can consult a gynecologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query.
