Are Xarelto And Eliquis Effective Blood Thinners?

I am researching some of the newer blood thinners. I have had several occassions of both lungs filled with pe blood clots. I have been on warfarin for many years and am very tired of all the blood tests and dietary issues I have to constantly be aware of. I am looking at xarelto and eliquis and trying to compare to see if there is an advantage of one or the other. Do you have any suggestions

Hi & Welcome.
I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.

Ideally speaking the best anticoagulant ('blood thinner') is the one that is best for your unique health condition and situation.

As compared to Warfarin, both Xarelto and Eliquis have no drug/diet (green leafy vegetables or alcohol) interactions, do not require regular blood tests or changing doses often, both are equally expensive and there's no way to reverse the medication's effects.

Xarelto is given once daily whereas Eliquis to be taken twice daily.

Both are commonly used in the treatment of thromboembolism like PE, however, since you are prone to have pre blood clots in your lungs, Eliquis can be more effective than Xarelto to lower the risk of forming the clots again.

So, Eliquis can be a better choice in your case. However, I would advise you to take opinion of your doctor.

Best regards.
