Are Haldol Decanoate Injections Advisable For Schizophrenia?

Hi, my son was diagnosed with schizophrenia about a month ago and while he was in the hospital the doctor prescribed him a 25 mg shot of Haldol decanoate every two weeks along with several other medication to include 5 mg of Haldol in the form of a pill as a daily dose. he is now back at home and was assigned a new psychiatrist whom decided that he didn t need the shot of Haldol dicanoate every two weeks which he should have taken today (since the first shot was given to him two weeks ago). should I be concerned that his psychosis might start to act up with the reduction in mg?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Detailed evaluation is required to find out the exact cause.

We have to rule out possible causes like Bell’s palsy also.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
