Are Flonase And Afrin Effective To Treat Clogged Ear?

I flew in a airplane which took off then landed then took off and landed again on Jan 13 2017. My right ear seemed to pop with all the pressure but the left ear seemed plugged and my hearing was a little muddled and it felt like water but it never popped and it s been 3 weeks now. I went to a ENT specialist and he said I have bubbles in my ear and I should take Flonase and afrin for 3 days. Does this usually work?

Hi,
These kind of ear blockage due to pressure variations can happen while flight landing and also in deep sea divings.
What you have to do as precautions when they announce landing: chew some bubble gum , keep some water and sip by sip drink, swallow your saliva frequently, open and close your mouth frequently.
Now in your case , you start with mucolytics along with Chymoral forte ( anti inflammatory) nasal decongestant drops followed by steam inhalation with plain water all will help. Take care.
