Are Domstal And Walamycin Advisable For An Infant?

My daughter is 2.5 months old and on breastfeed. Yesterday i tried to give 30ml of lactogen...She refused alot and finally took 5ml to 10ml. Again i gave my milk and made her to sleep. She had around 3 huge vomitings. Her stool also changed to whitish yellow. My pead suggested to give domstal and walamycin. I gave one dosage of both till now. She is normal now. Do i need to continue those medicines? Is it advisable to give walamycin antibiotic to 2.5 old kid. I am bit worried. Kindly suggest

hi,
Thanks for the query. I understand your concern.
Walamycin is an antibiotic used for treating gastroenteric infection.
Your baby just denied the new feed offered to her... which was given for 2 full feds at a stretch. It can be safely given to your baby. .. may be she did not like it / could not digest it .While introducing some thing new to baby... it should be a gradual process..( small quantity to start with only before one normal feed... to be gradually increased to complete feed & then increasing number of feeds gradually as per need )
Actually a baby needs complete breast feeding till she gets 6 months minimum... if mother has sufficient breast secretions.Even if she goes out in feeding time expressed breast milk can be given within 6 hours / it can be stored at 24 hour in freeze.
* The Walamycin can be given to the baby safely when required. BUt if you have started it complete course to avoid developing drug resistant bacteria.
Thanks.
