Any Suggestion To Slow The Diarrhea For 91 Year Old Having Pacemaker?
Good Evening. I have a 91 year old who has just had a pacemaker put in. was on antiboadics and finished them yesterday. for the most part doing well till in the middle of dinner didn t make the toilet. Belief it may be related to the antibodics.. till I can get her to a doctor (she has an appt Monday already what can I do to slow the diarrehea Sorry for misspellings I am a little exhausted.
if she is 91, then I would be concerned about dehydration rapidly. also, if she has been on antibiotics then I would worry about infection with clostridium difficult, a bacteria that often causes diarrhea after antibiotics. in case it is this kind of diarrhea, any anti diarrheal medicine should not be given. instead, treatment is fluids and antibiotics to treat the diarrheal I would take her to the nearest ER if she is having frequent loose stools. main reason would be to make sure the diarrhea is not due to a second infection
