Any Suggestion For Recurring Boils With History Of Incision, Drainage On Abscesses?

I've had 7 incision and drainage on perirectal abscesses and 1 fistulotmey. I have a pilonidal cyst that frequently gets infected but has always drained. It's painful but I'm just so tired of going to the ER and doctors over this. However, this evening I found a growing boil while wiping after using the bathroom. It's not big yet and the weird part was that it is draining in the middle of my buttcrack while the actual boil is off to the left buttock. It's also a previous boil that was opened surgically. I have no diseases as I have been tested for A LOT because of this. What the heck should I do about a reoccurring boil that was lanced YEARS ago? Sorry for spelling. Thank you Jessica.e

Hi,

I can understand your concern for recurring boils with history of incision, drainage on abscesses.

As you had gone for surgery quite long time of so by this time the wound should heal up. If it small hole with white stuff on surgical wound then it may indicate infection in wound.

You should meet your treating doctor to get proper diagnosis. Do not try to even touch or pinch the area as can cause more aggravation of the problem and spread of the infection. This area is quite common to get infected very easily because of sweating and high bacterial proliferation.

I suggest you to take oral antibiotic such as ciprofloxacin or cefadroxyl 500 mg two times a day for 5 days to prevent secondary infection. For time being period you can apply antibiotic cream such as fucidin or mupirocin and take pain killer tablets such diclofenac or paracetamol.

Take care.
