Any Suggestion For Elevated CPK Levels When Having Hypothyroid And High BP?
Dr. Grief,
I have been experiencing aches in both upper arms for a month. Dr. just phoned and stated my CPK levels were slightly elevated. This started in left arm and has now moved to right arm, too. No injury or strains to arms. I am a 72 yr old female with hypothyroid and treated HBP.
Let me know you CPK is creatinine phosphokinase enzymes that is present in muscle, brain and in heart. Hence if any injury or pathology to this three organ can lead elevated level of cpk Ischemic heart disease, muscle inflammation, muscle injury, and polymyositis are some causes.
As you have left sided pain also EKG should be done to rule out cardiac cause if present If specific cause found than treated accordingly. Consult physician for examination with keeping all this in mind.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Parth Goswami
