Any Suggestion For Breathing Trouble When Vomiting Due To Flu?

My daughter was vomiting due to flue. While doing so she couldn't breath because some of the food got caught in her throat. She stared hitting her own back and it seemed to work. What could we as parents have done to help her if it should happen again?

HI
Well come to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, chocking the esophagus at the time of vomiting is not likely unless some solid material is there but care needs to be taken for aspiration means the vomit contain may go but in fully conscious subject it is not likely squatting position can avoid this situation inside the trachea hope this information helps.
