Am I Having Itchy Rashes Due To Tonsillectomy?

Hi! It s been 10 days after my Tonsillectomy. And I have rashes in both arms now. And at the back. They re itchy. Small red spots. Is this or is this not related to my Tonsillectomy? Last Nov 2013, I developed rashes in the groin area and the doctor said it looked like multiple drug reaction. Bec i had recurring cellulitis during that time which put me in antibiotic therapy for weeks. Thank you.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain itchy rashes over the arms along with red spots after Tonsillectomy along with a previous history of having drug reaction seems most probably be due to allergic reaction to medications only in the present condition also..

As after tonsillectomy procedure the patient is advised to take a course of antibiotics and painkillers and antibiotics can cause allergic reaction leading to itchy rashes..

Therefore you should consult your treating surgeon and get evaluated and he can change the antibiotics and also advise you antihistamines/anti-allergics like Levocetrizine or Allegra to relieve the itching and rashes..
You can also do cool compresses over the rashes..
Apply calamine lotion to soothe the skin..
You can also apply steroid ointment to reduce inflammation and itching..
