Advice Treatment For Swimmer's Ear

My friends was diagnosed with swimmer's ear and was prescribed Ciprodex by an ENT. He has been using it for 2 days and his ear feels full and it's hard for him to hear out of it. He also has surfer's ear so his ear canal is narrow. He does not have health insurance. Is there anything he can do or use at one to help?
