Advanced Ankylosing Spondalitis, Fused Neck. In Need Of Histarectomy. Suggested Breathing Tubes Unable To Go Down Throat, To Find Own Anasteseologist. Help
hi, i have advanced ankylosing spondalitis, my neck is naturally fused and i need a histarectomy, my doc says breathing tubes wont go down my throat becuz of angle of neck. I cant lay flat on my back becuz my neck will break. she told me i have to find my own anasteseologist for my surgery. no one wants to help me or even try to figure this out. what should i do?
I have read details of your question.I can understand your problem .Now a days there are various advances which can help you in this problem. Some anesthetist may use cricothyrotomy where they apply a cut over the neck at specific place & then pass tube through this. There is also other methods where they use fiber optic scope which can easily go through such type of fused neck-

Although this may look easy from theoretical point of view. You should discuss this with your doctor.
Hope this will help you.
With best wishes.
