Addicted To Betnovate-n, Apply On Blackheads, Pimples And Mosquito Bites
Hi.my brother has a lot of blackheads n pimples on his face.he is addicted to betnovate-n. He applies that like a normal face cream. He uses it for Whatever he gets on his skin,from mosquito bites to cuts and pimples.actually everywhere possible. Please help.

Betnovate-N contains a potent steroid, betamethasone valerate. A potent streoid should never be use on face for long term because side effects like Acne, Photosensitivity, Skin thinning and Atrophy(telangiectasia) etc.
It should be stopped immediately. Soaps or face wash should be replaced with a gentle cleanser like cetaphil.
Acne due to betnovate can be treated with Oral antibiotics like doxycycline and topical anti acne gels like clindac A gel during day time and Benzoyl peroxide gel for night time application.
Since long term use of betnovate makes the skin photosensitive therefore it is advisable to use a broad spectrum sunscreen throughout the day.
