Acute Pain In Rib Cage Area. Chest X Ray Normal. Treatment To Help ?

Hi, Dr. Siegel. My name is AAAA and i have accute pain in the rib cage area. I have had chest xray and everything ok. The doctor told me it is propably muscular. However the pain is severe enough that it weekens me for physical activity. How long does this sort of injury take to heal, and what should i do to help it along ?

The muscular pains of the chest wall usually take 3-4 weeks to heal. In case the pain is acute and sever, you can get some muscle relaxants prescribed from your orthopedician. Doing a hot fomentation in the area will help in early healing.
