Acidity After Eating Sweet Stuff On Empty Stomach. Help

Hi, I suffer from a lot of acidity and gastric issues on a regular basis. I know that my eating habits are not controlled but they are still less than some of my friends. Especiallly when I eat something sweet wiht empty stomach , it amounts to acidity. Also in the morning to freshen up, I drink a glass of water which does help alot. But after some time acidity starts and does not ends even after eating some fruits. Since I live alone and most of the times I have to eat outside, so kindly help me in this regard as I want to have a strong digestive system.

Welcome to Healthcare Magic,
Persistent hyperacidity can lead to gastro esophageal reflux disease and even in late stage to peptic ulcer. You have to take prompt measures to prevent complications and treat your condition. You may start with lifestyle changes and general considerations: avoid non- steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen or Aspirin, smoking, alcohol, large fatty meals, spicy food, coffee, soda, stress. From medicines: first line antacids( neutralize your stomach acid) such as Maalox, Rennie, Mylanta, Rolaids, Riopan, Alka-Seltzer, etc.. Second line : H2 blockers such as cimetidine (Tagamet HB ), Ranitidine ( Zantac 75 ), Famotidine( Pepcid AC), Nizatidine (Axid AR).Third line : proton pump inhibitors such as omeprazole ( Prilosec, Zegerid ), Lansoprazole ( Prevacid ), Pantoprazole ( Protonix) Esomeprazole ( Nexium) .
Practically you will start with any of antacids only for few days and monitor your self, if there no improvements add second line H2 blockers and monitor for few days. I believe first two drug groups will help you and no need add a third line (only in severe cases). Follow strictly advice, diet and medication and you will have positive result.

I wish you good luck and speedy recovery,
Hope this helps and I have answered your query. If you have additional queries don’t hesitate to ask.

Hi, Pankul,
Thanks for query.
It seems that your habit of food plays important role for having acidity.
You have to change your food style.
Avoid fried, chilies and junk food.
Take plenty of milk, butter milk, curd, cheese, panier.
Take less food but have frequent food so that your stomach does not remain empty and may neutralize acid secretion.
Avoid more tea, coffee and aerated soft drinks.
Avoid stress.
You may take tablet Omeprazole once in a day.
Ok and bye.
