9 day old daughter was exposed to MRSA in the NICU My 9 day old daughter was exposed to MRSA in the NICU should i be concerned. She was isolated from the others and her first culture has been returned negative.

You need not be concerned if her culture reports are negative. Nowadays antibiotics like vancomycin and other higher antibiotics are available which are effective against MRSA bacteria. Also remember that newborns may be exposed to many other germs once they are discharged from nicu especially from touching with unclean hands by family members or strangers.so practise adequate hand washing before feeding or handling a newborn.
