86 Years. Frequent UTIs. Prescribed Keflex. Side Effects From Changing The Medication To Cipro. Advice

Hi. My mom is 86 years old and never had a until until 3 yrs ago She had 7 children. In the past 3 years she has had 6 utis The question is which drug is best to fight it since we still don't know the offending organism I am fairly sure it is not e coli She was prescribed Keflex 500 mg I thought that cipro would be a less difficult drug on her system, so I changed it Last time on Keflex she felt miserable for 10 days

Hi, at this age females are more prone to the urinary tract infections. due to lack of harmones, and resistance, and anemia.
She may need to have culture and sensitivity of the midstream urine, and treated accordingly. So i advise you to consult a urologist for diagnosis and treatment. Thank you.
