8 Year Old With A Fluid Filled Bump On The Lip. Feeling Puffy And Itchy. How To Get It Treated?

My 8 year old son has developed a bump on his lip today. It started out feeling puffy, itchy, and he said like it was filling up with liquid. It has been a couple of hours and mostly feels puffy and a little liquid. There are so many things it could be, but I am not sure what direction to go in. What does it sound like it could be, so I know how to treat it? Thank you.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,
Thank you for your query.
There is no reason to panic.
This is a normal phenonmenon after injury to the buccal mucous membrane. It will subside in a few days.Avoid licking the areas as it will delay the recovery. If there is any cut apply some local antibiotic or gel.Application of an ice pack locally should help too.Hope it answers your query.Wishing your child a speedy recovery.Bye

Pediatrician Dr. E Venkata Ramana's  Response
Hi
Is your child having fever? if fever is there it could be a febrile blister and it will subside. Or it may be due to herpes blister and it will come and go and requires antiviral ointments like acyclovir ointment and it will subside. Consult your doctor to find out the nature of blister for for management.
