Hi My 8 month old has conjunctivitis as well as a cough and some wheezing on his chest. He current has a temperature also of 38 deg c. No access to doctor until tomorrow - he seems very uncomfortable, have given calpol and he is only in his vest - house temp is relatively cool. Anything else I can do or give him?

Hi Alex,
Is it just a pink eye or red eye with discharge?

If its just a pink eye with watering, you can use a lubricant eye drops 8 times a day,to reduce his irritation along with cold water compresses to soothen him until your appointment .

If he has significant discharge with matting of eyelashes, then clean it up with cotton soaked in warm water and use the lubricant drops 6 times a day. Antibiotic should be started after consultation as to assess the severity of the eye and the dosage of the drops especially in a pediatric age group.

Take care.
