7 Month Old, Leg Pain. CBC Test, High ESR. History Of Back Pain. Treatment?

Hello, My wife age is 23 and we have 7 months old baby. She was feeling pain in back and neck 3 to 4 months back. Later on she started to feel a lot of pain in her feet . As per doctor advice CBC test was done and high ESR level, currently 65 was identified. Please advise what can be the possible cause of this high ESR in young age and how it can be cured. We are really worried and your advise is requested.

Hello imran... you ought to know that ESR of 65 is certainly high and needs to be investigated further. I presume that only ESR is raised and rest of the CBC pofile is within normal limits as it would rule out anaemia . As your wife has recently delivered , back pain n bodyache are common if your wife is not on calcium supplements n raised ESR could have been an incidental finding due to some subclinical infection. But it is certainly important to rule out tuberculosis. In the event of a negative report it would be wise enough to work her up for autoimmune disorders( rheumatoid arthritis and SLE), especially if she has early morning stiffness of joints or has facial rashes.
