7 Month Baby, Fever. USG Shows Elongated Kidneys, Urine Tests Done. Suggestions?

Hi,

My son is 7 months old and from the past 30 days he was suffering from fever. Doctor suggested for Chest X-ray, Ultrasound. Chest X-RAY was negative, though USG report showed that both kidneys are elongated echogenicity slightly bright kidneys. Based on the usg report, doctor suggested us to have URINE Routine/ Culture and blood tests for kidney functions. HB was 10.2, Blood UREA: 49.4 mg/dl (15-40 normal range), CREATININE Level 0.72 mg/dl (range 0.2 - 1.2 mg/dl). Urine routine shows Albumin: ++

Otherwise baby looks good, no problem in urinating. Now we are not what could be the problem. We again has consulted with another doctor and they have also collected blood samples for the RFT and Cholestrol test. Could you please suggest something on this
?

Kind Regards,
Mukesh

Urologist 's  Response
Hi
welcome to the forum.
Urine showing albumin, high urea and creatinine for his age and ultrasound scan showing echogenic kidneys with fever is suggestive of kidney inflammation.
It may be glomerulo-nephritis or nephrotic syndrome.
You need to meet a nephrologist or atleast a child specialist asap.
Best regards
