6 Years Old. Sore Throat. Could It Be Meningitis?

My son is 6 years old and has had a sore throat since yesterday. Last night he was moaning in his sleep and today fell asleep on the couch in the middle of the day (very out of character for him). Tonight he is complaining of a sore neck . He hasn t had fever (at least not significant), but is it possible that it could be meningitis or does it sound more like the flu?

hi there, sore throat, listlessness and sore neck without any other symptoms sounds to me like just the flu and not indicative of meningitis but do keep a close watch on him, give him some anti-pyretic with anti-inflammatory combination, plenty of fluids and rest and he shoould recover in 2-3 days. If he does happen to high grade fever, neck stiffness,or vomiting then you mayshow him to a pediatritian . till then be relaxed and watchful. Take care.
