Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi Riaz,
Thank you for your query,
At present your child is having upper respiratory tract infection and the temperature is 99-100 degree Farenheit (not celcius as you mentioned).
For fever you can give paracetamol drops every 6th or 8th hourly depending on the presence of high temperature in prescribed dosage and mucolytic drops for cough after consulting your Doctor.
As you siad your chid gets rash whenever he wears the cap so better avoid this as it may causing allergic rash.
Consult your Pediatrician for examination and to assess the need for antibiotic for his throat infection.
Hope i have answered your query.

Pediatrician Dr. Diana Divakar's  Response
Hi Mr. Riaz,
Thanks for opting healthcaremagic.com to post your query and giving us this opportunity to answer your question.
Well, unlikely that your baby's current throat infection is related to the past meningitis and brain edema which happened at day 15 of life.
But for the current problem also I would recommend you to show him to your pediatrician because continuous cough, disturbed sleep are all bad signs. I would also like to know how is he feeding. Has there been any reduction in the feeds since he has started having this cough? Does he take only mother's feed or has he been started on the top feeds also? When did you last check his calcium levels?
Any kind of breathing difficulty in the child with poor feeding and irritability is a danger sign and you should take him to your pediatrician. Though fever being low grade is a less alarming sign.

I hope I have made myself clear to you Mr. Riaz and that you will take your son to the pediatrician. Wishing your son a rapid and complete recovery. Take care and stay healthy.
