5 Year Old, Underweight, Less Height For Age. Tests Done. What Does It Indicate?

Hi, My daughter is 5 years 7 months old. As compare to her age girls/ boys her height and weight is low. She is 103 cm and 15 kg. We did her blood test. Many test results are in normal range. Like IRON BC - 70.3 ug/dl Ferritine- BC - 27.22 ng/ml Free T3 ED - 7.37 pmol/l Free T4 ED - 20.15 pmol/l Thyroid Stimulating Hormone ED 1.11 ulU/ml ESR(westergern) HE -15 mm at 1 hr C Reactive Protein -SE 6.5 mg/L In all above only C reactive Protein test is crossing the limit. What does this mean? We did Peripheral SMEAR /Blood film -HE test also- Film shows: Hypochromic, microcytic picture Anisopoikilocytosis Normal platelet picture. Normal granulocytic picture. Please suggest me if there is any reason for her low height and weight?

Nephrologist 's  Response
HI
Thanks for your query.
The reports suggest that she could have an iron deficiency state. She will need iron supplements if her Hemoglobin is low.
Chronic severe anemia could cause growth retardation.
Elevated CRP indicates an inflammatory state ( could be due to infection).
Please see an endocrinologist for a more thorough evaluation of her medical problems.
Hope this helps
Good luck.
