4 Year Old With Diarrhea, Abdominal Cramping And Vomiting. Rashes Formed. Cause?

My 4 year old son has had diarrhea for 4 days. He has also had vomiting. He was given zofran ODT for the emesis and recently given tylenol with codeine for the abdominal cramping and diarrhea. He also has sporadically had a low grade fever. Tonight he developed a rash and then vomited. 2-3 minutes after he vomited his rash went away.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

Your child developed gastroenteritis mostly due to a virus.

Continue the treatment as advised by your doctor.

The mainstay of treatment in diarrhea is to maintain the hydration of the child by giving sips of oral rehydration solutions like Pedialyte.

The rash may be a transient rash which could be associated with this viral illness or some times due to drug induced.

If the rash reappears consult the pediatrician again for reexamination and for treatment.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
