4 Year Old High Fever, Headache And Vomiting After Swimming
My 4 year old son was released from the hospital on Sunday. He had a high fever , severe headache and vomiting after being in simming pools. He is 44 and 43 pounds. I was never told what was wrong with him. Also, the ER doctor found 3 spots on an xray of his stomach. His doctor said it was nothing to worry about. Although she was concerned that he has lost 2 pounds while in the hospital. I also noticed something today. He came to me and ask for a popcycle. I gave it to him and a few seconds later he had to ask me what it was. He couldn t remember that it was a popcycle. I am so worried. He is otherwise a very healthy boy. I am very worried. After taking him back today for a follow up, he was put on nexuim for his stomach. If any one can help I would greatly appreciate it.

General & Family Physician, Dr. P. Mahesh's Response
Hi,
Welcome to HCM. Probably he must have got ear infection which is very common infection that one gets from a swimming pool. He may have swallowed some debris from the swimming pool. Since he is otherwise healthy and not drowsy, you don't have to worry. If the child becomes drowsy or has high fever or diarrhoea, then you have to immediately take him to ER otherwise you do not have to be concerned. Do as advised by your doctor. Wishing your child speedy recovery.
