4 Month Baby, Having Over Sized Testicles, Adds Pressure To This While Crying. How Long Will This Last?

My grandson was born with over sized tesicles, The Dr said it was fluid and it would most likely correct it self in a few months. the baby is almost 4 months now and his testies are larger. They look like a small water balloon. I worry when he cries it seems to add pressure to them. What can you tell me about this? How long is this suppose to last.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

Is the size is increasing with crying or straining?

Is the swelling is decreasing in lying position?

It seems the bigger size is due to presence of fluid around testes or presence of congenital hernia.

It requires physical examination by the pediatrician.

If the swellings are persisting, they need surgery later to remove the fluid or to close the defect depending on the presence of hydrocele or a congenital hernia.

So consult the pediatrician or pediatric surgeon for examination and opinion.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.

Pediatrician Dr. Y V Siva Sankara Murty's  Response
Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

From the description you provided it seems to be a hydrocele. Please get your baby examined by a paediatrician for confirmation of the same.

Some times surgical intervention may be required if the problem does not get corrected. The other possibility is that it could be a hernia.

Continue to ask further queries as required.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
